EP adopts resolution on Albania - Support for the path towards the EU

The European Parliament today adopted the annual Resolution on Albania, with 483 votes in favor, reconfirming support for the country's European integration process and the progress achieved on the path towards membership in the European Union.
After the vote, the chairman of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, described the decision as an important assessment of Albania's reforms and progress in the integration process.
"This decision of the direct representatives of European citizens is a great appreciation of Albania's solid progress on the path to membership in the European Union," Balla said in a reaction on social networks.
He thanked the MEPs who supported the resolution, expressing special gratitude to the rapporteur for Albania in the European Parliament, Andreas Schieder, as well as to the Socialists and Democrats Group and MEP Andrey Kovatchev for their continued support for the country's European perspective.
According to Balla, the adoption of the resolution constitutes a strong political signal in support of Albania's European future and the objective of full membership in the European Union by 2030.
The European Parliament's annual resolution assesses the progress of candidate countries in the integration process and serves as an important political instrument for guiding reforms and advancing membership negotiations.
