PD proposes 34 amendments for the 2025 budget - 5-fold increase of the pension fund and the setting of the living minimum are required
After approval in principle, the state budget for 2025 is ready to be voted on article by article and as a whole on December 3. The Democratic Party has proposed 34 amendments that require significant changes in the state's financial priorities.
Among the most important proposals is the request to set the living minimum at 200 thousand ALL, a measure that will ensure the minimum level of living for citizens.
The MPs also demand a significant increase in pensions, proposing a quintuple of the fund for this category, from 1.6 billion ALL to around 8 billion ALL.
Another important demand is an increase in salaries for the public administration, including a 20% increase for the health and education sectors. Also, they propose the suspension of payments for concessions and PPPs in health, except for those related to dialysis.
In addition to these, a financial package worth 5 billion ALL has also been proposed for local producers, as compensation for the blow caused by the devaluation of the euro. Also, a fund of 120 million euros is requested in subsidies for farmers, livestock breeders and agro-industry.
For 2025, total budget revenues are expected to reach 754.6 billion ALL, with an increase of 5.6% compared to the revised budget for 2024.
Based on the 2025 revenue projections, the total budget revenue reaches 28.8% of GDP from 27.5%, which resulted on average in the three previous years, that is, with an average increase of 1.3% of GDP.
In terms of budget expenditures, 822.7 billion ALL or 31.4% of GDP are expected to be spent, with an increase in absolute value of 51.3 billion ALL compared to the revised plan of 2024.
