ALL 288 million for the Shijan-Delvina - Tirana-Saranda axis, the time is reduced to 3 hours
The Albanian Road Authority has opened the tender for the rehabilitation of the road segment Shijan - Delvinë and the connecting road of the village of Vergo, the lighting of the Shijan roundabout. The limit fund of this project is estimated at 288 million and 144 thousand ALL.
The general objective of the project is to improve the road transport infrastructure, to meet the increased needs for transport services within the scope of rapid national and regional economic changes, as well as to make the entire Kardhiq-Delvina road axis fully efficient, as and the connection with the city of Saranda and Delvina, with the aim of shortening the traffic movement time and creating a safety and comfort for all road users.
In the document published in the Public Procurement Agency, it is stated that the construction of the Kardhiq-Delvin road is one of the projects of the transformative package for the development of infrastructure with an impact on the country's economy and tourism. This road has been designated as one of the most priority axes, which cuts the travel time from Tirana to Saranda to 3 hours, giving a further boost to tourism.
The road axis Kardhiq - Delvinë has a length of 33 km and lies in the South of Albania, it crosses the district of Gjirokastra, Delvinë and Sarandë. This road segment starts at the roundabout in the village of Shijan and ends in the town of Delvina.
The Albanian Road Authority plans to rehabilitate a local-urban road with a total length of about 7.5 km. The existing road of the village of Vergo is in a state outside the design standard, becoming a problem for road safety and the comfort of movement of road users.
Therefore, the main objective is the rehabilitation of the Shijan-Delvinë road, including the lighting of the roundabout at the overpass junction due to the high flow of cars expected at this roundabout. Referring to the nature of the interurban road, the relative speed of the vehicles that will pass on this axis will be high, in this way the lighting of the roundabout is provided.
