The establishment of the Albanian Development Bank officially begins, OBP opens the procedure for international consultancy

The procedure for the establishment of the Albanian Development Bank, the first development financial institution with 100% state capital in the country, has officially begun. The Centralized Purchasing Operator (CPO) has opened the procurement procedure for the selection of the consulting company that will assist in the drafting of the strategic, operational and institutional framework of the new bank.
The procedure aims to attract companies with international experience in establishing and operationalizing development financial institutions, with the aim of making the Albanian Development Bank functional and operational as soon as possible. The project is considered one of the most important initiatives of recent years in terms of creating state instruments to support the economy and entrepreneurship.
The Albanian Development Bank is expected to play a key role in financing the economy, especially for small and medium-sized businesses, through concessional financing mechanisms. Another important element of the project is the expansion of access to financial services through the Albanian Post network throughout the country, aiming for greater financial inclusion, especially in areas where banking services are more limited.
Although as a joint stock company the Albanian Development Bank was not legally obliged to conduct procurement procedures through the central purchasing body, it has voluntarily chosen to entrust this process to the Centralized Purchasing Operator. This decision is seen as an indication of trust in the standards of transparency, professionalism and procedures followed by the Centralized Purchasing Operator.
With the launch of this procedure, the project now enters a concrete implementation phase, while the authorities aim for the new financial institution to serve as an important instrument for economic development, supporting investments and strengthening Albanian entrepreneurship.
