Minister Balluku inspects the works in lot 1/ "We want Tirana to wake up in the New Year with the Great Ring completed"
In lot 1 of the Great Ring of Tirana, work is being done even at night to finalize this complex project, but very important for the capital and not only. In all lots, progress is being made at a fast pace, to make it possible for this work to be opened for vehicle traffic at the end of this year.
The Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku and the director of the Albanian Road Authority, Gentian Gjyli closely followed the progress of the works in Lot 1, where the excavation works for the formation of the road body are nearing completion, while it has become possible to move electric air lines and water supply lines.
The chief engineer of the site explained that more than 65% of the works have been completed and despite the complexity encountered, the pace of the works has been and continues to be high. Meanwhile, the director of ARRSH said that it has advanced significantly with the construction of bridges and other works of art, which are part of the project.
Deputy Prime Minister Balluku emphasized that in lot 1 there was an increased complexity because this lot is connected to the tunnels of the Shqiponja junction, but also to other urban roads. With the completion of this lot, said Balluku, the entire ring road will be opened for vehicle traffic.
"We want Tirana to wake up in the new year with the Great Ring already completed. Some small details may remain as usual related to the urban furnishing rather or other issues, certainly not the signage, as we deliver it with complete signage, since road safety has priority for all the axes that put into use, but I really hope that we stick to the deadlines", says Balluku.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy further underlined that the engineering staffs of MIE and ARRSH will be on alert and coordinate with the engineers of the companies that are performing the works to address without any delay any unexpected events that may be identified.
"I will be present all the time to see the progress of the works, as it is very important for us to stick to the deadlines that we have published and that obviously the citizens are looking forward to using one of the most important infrastructural works of Albania and not only of Tirana, the Great Ring", emphasized Balluku.
The Great Ring of Tirana has a total length of nearly 29 kilometers. Currently, work is being done in the northeastern part, which has been divided into 7 lots, in order to have a faster progress of the works.
