Marco Alberti is the new Italian ambassador to Tirana, replacing Fabrizio Bucci, whose 5-year mandate ended a few days ago.

Born in the city of Bukavu, Zaire, in 1972, the 53-year-old graduated in law from the University of Bologna.

On December 29, 2000, following a competitive examination, he embarked on a diplomatic career and was appointed Probationary Secretary of the Legation. Marco Alberti subsequently held several positions until his appointment as Ambassador of Italy to Kazakhstan on September 1, 2021.

Meanwhile, from January 20 of the year that has just begun, Alberti will serve a 5-year term as Italy's chief diplomat in Albania.
