Goods worth over 430 euros in suitcases, obligation to declare - What are the taxation rules for travelers entering Albania?

With the increase in the flow of movements during the spring and summer period, the General Directorate of Customs informs travelers entering Albania about the allowed value of goods that are exempt from customs duties.
Customs clarifies that travelers coming from another country to Albania are exempt from import duties for goods found in their personal luggage.
These goods are exempt from customs duties if, by their type and quantity, they are not intended for commercial use.
The value of exempt goods (excluding tobacco and alcohol products) for land travelers is 300 euros.
For air or sea travelers, 430 euros for each traveler and for travelers under 15 years of age, 150 euros.
When entering Albanian territory, the traveler must declare the goods if they are of a value higher than the relevant limit mentioned above and if they are for commercial purposes.
Customs authorities have the right to ask the traveler to show all goods he is transporting.
For non-commercial goods in passengers' luggage that exceed the limit exempt from import customs duties, customs declaration is carried out through the "Simplified Declaration" procedure.
The information is provided to prevent any problems that citizens may encounter when they are not clear about legal obligations or to prevent the passage of untaxed goods for commercial purposes.
