London and Bergamo, the most favorite destinations for Albanians/ TIA: 1.14 million passengers traveled in June
In June of this year, over 1.14 million passengers traveled to and from Tirana International Airport, marking an 8% increase compared to the same period last year. A record figure, which confirms the trend of growth in tourism and air travel from Albania.
The most frequented destination continues to be London, with nearly 89 thousand passengers, followed by Bergamo and Rome, although the latter two have marked a slight decrease compared to last year.
Meanwhile, some destinations have experienced extraordinary growth. Stuttgart has tripled its passenger numbers, Perugia +158%, while Pescara and Nuremberg have increased by over 100%. This shows an orientation of airlines towards medium-sized cities in Europe, where large Albanian communities are located.
On the other hand, there are also destinations that have suffered a sharp decline. Bucharest has lost 74% of passengers, while Catania, another traditional destination for Albanian immigrants, has recorded a decrease of 52%.
What stands out is the total disappearance of flights to several cities such as Brindisi, Bristol or Jeddah, which are no longer part of the flight network this June.
Despite these fluctuations, the strong presence of low-cost airlines and the expansion of destinations have led Albania to continue to grow as an important air hub in the region. With the tourist season at its peak, July is expected to break new records.
