Around 4.7 million foreigners visited Albania in 6 months/ Up 4.8% annually. More Europeans and business visits
During the month of June, a total of 2,062,775 citizens, including both Albanian and foreign citizens, entered the territory of Albania. These data, published by the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT), show an increase of 7.6% compared to the same period last year. Of this total, 733,571 were Albanian citizens, marking an increase of 8.5%, while 1,329,204 were foreign citizens, with an increase of 7.1%.
On the other hand, during the same month, around 1.9 million departures from Albanian territory were recorded, an increase of 7.2% compared to May last year. Within this number, around 710 thousand were Albanian citizens and around 1.2 million were foreigners.
When we look at the data for the six-month period January-June 2025, it is noted that around 8.5 million citizens entered Albania, of which 3.8 million were Albanians and around 4.7 million were foreign citizens.
This figure represents an increase of 4.8% for foreign citizens compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, the departures from the country of foreign citizens during this period reached around 4.6 million people, reflecting an annual increase of 3.3%.
According to the origin of foreign nationals entering the country, Europe continues to be the main region. Data shows that 94% of foreign nationals entering Albania are from the European region, with the southern region accounting for 70% of entries.
Regarding the purpose of travel, in 98% of cases, entries were made for personal reasons, such as holidays or visits to relatives, a category that has marked an increase of 6.8%. Entry for business reasons has undergone a significant expansion, with an annual increase of 27.9%. However, the data is not uniformly positive, as entry for health treatment has fallen significantly, with a significant decrease of 80.6% compared to the same period last year.
