Energy savings and environmental benefits - 745,000 residential buildings and 8,200 public buildings need to be renovated
Achieving the national target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 requires the renovation of 745,000 residential buildings and 8,200 public buildings according to energy efficiency principles.
The Committee on Productive Activities approved in principle the draft law "On Energy Performance in Buildings", which, unlike the existing law, according to the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enkelejda Muçaj, focuses on the environmental benefits that come from energy efficiency in buildings.
Muço also spoke about the costs arising from the implementation of the law, emphasizing that just for the renovation of state buildings to achieve at least the minimum requirements, the value goes to 50 - 60 million euros per year.
Meanwhile, for private buildings, funding will be shared with building owners and donors, while schemes will be determined by government decision.
Buildings renovated according to energy efficiency principles not only reduce energy consumption, which consequently leads to a reduction in emissions, protecting the environment, but also provide comfortable living conditions for citizens or employees, in the case of public buildings.
