Where are the most crowded classes in Albania? The ratio in high schools, from 8

How many students are there per teacher in Albanian high schools? This is an indicator that reflects not only how full the classes are, but also how much support each student can receive during the learning process. Data from INSTAT show that the ratio between students and teachers varies significantly from one region to another and according to the type of education.

Tirana and Durrës with the most crowded classes

In public secondary schools, the largest districts have the highest student-to-teacher ratios. Durrës has about 14 students per teacher, while Tirana has about 13 students per teacher. Elbasan and Fier also have a relatively high ratio, with about 11-12 students per teacher.

In contrast, smaller regions have less crowded classrooms. In Gjirokastër, there are an average of only 8 students per teacher, while in Lezha, there are around 9 students per teacher. Similar ratios are also found in Korça, Kukës and Berat, where one teacher covers an average of 10-11 students.

Private education with smaller classes

In private education the ratio is usually lower, indicating smaller classes. In Tirana, where most private schools are concentrated, there are around 8 students per teacher. In Durrës and Elbasan the ratio is around 9 students per teacher, while in some other regions it ranges from 10 to 15 students per teacher.

In some areas such as Gjirokastra, the ratio is even lower due to the very small number of students in the private sector.
