Identity card, now within 3 days - From 14 days before. Fee 3 thousand lek. IdentiTek launches new service
The time for issuing an ID card has now been reduced from 14 days to just 3 days. The innovation has been launched by IdentiTek, the state-owned biometric document production company, bringing a new service to Albanian citizens.
Thanks to this service, through a payment of 3 thousand lek, every citizen can be provided with an electronic ID card within 3 days.
The service is designed to facilitate and expedite the application process, helping citizens who urgently need their identification document. The expedited procedure is particularly useful for immigrants who are staying in Albania for a few days, as well as for all those who need to quickly obtain their identity card, whether for personal, professional or administrative reasons.
The application is carried out at any IdentiTek office throughout Albania, and the procedure is simple with four steps. Buy the voucher with an accelerated procedure, take with you the old document or the self-declaration of loss or theft from e-Albania, apply at one of the IdentiTek offices and finally withdraw the new card at the same place where you made the application.
This service is accessible to all Albanian citizens, including those who are issued with an electronic ID card for the first time, those renewing an expired document, and those seeking a replacement due to expiration, damage, or loss.
The history of biometric document production in Albania dates back to May 2009. The concessionary company operated until mid-2023, when the contract ended and the government decided to create a state-owned company. After August 2023, “IdentiTek”, a company with state capital, took over.
The company produces identity cards and biometric passports for Albanian citizens, as well as diplomatic and service passports. It also produces travel documents, residence permits and electronic identity cards specifically for foreign citizens with permanent or temporary residence within the territory of the Republic of Albania, or who have acquired refugee status and have been granted asylum in Albania.
