January-April, 32.8% of new vehicles are electric - DPSHTRR: The fleet of green vehicles increased by 56%
Green vehicles continue to increase their dominance in road traffic in Albania. According to the General Directorate of Road Transport Services, for the period January-April 2025, 1,277 all-electric vehicles were registered, or 56% more compared to the same period a year earlier. Meanwhile, 32.8% of vehicles with 0 km registered for the first time are electric.
The positive performance is also reflected in the fact that, in total, the fleet of electric vehicles in April 2025 reached 7,655, i.e. 20% more compared to 2024. On the other hand, regarding electric/hybrid plug-in vehicles, 74% of vehicles with 0 Km registered for the first time are electric/hybrid plug-in.
These figures demonstrate a transformation in the transportation culture in our country and reflect citizens' interest in green transportation alternatives.
Likewise, the positive trend of electric vehicle registrations is also reflected in the environmental impact, as it has contributed to reducing CO2 emissions by 10,104,600 kg CO2/year. This translates into 336,820 cleaner environmental lungs.
Likewise, according to data from the DPSHTRR, 72% of vehicles registered during January-April 2025 are Euro 5 or above or newer, significantly improving the quality but also increasing the safety of the road fleet in the country.
Albania is moving towards a more environmentally friendly transition. Data shows a growing interest in green cars in the country and an increased awareness among citizens embracing clean technologies in transportation.
