The private sector has significantly increased its interest in investing in solar power generation. Recently, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy received applications from two companies for the construction of power plants with an installed capacity of 33 MW.

Thus, the company “ALB ENERGY GROUP” sh.pk has expressed interest and submitted to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, the application for the construction of a photovoltaic plant with an installed capacity of 31 MW, for the production of electricity from renewable sources, which is not subject to concession and does not benefit from support measures. The plant is expected to be built in the village of Povelçë, Dërmena Administrative Unit, Fier Municipality.

The company "3E ENERGY" sh.pk has also submitted an application for the construction of a photovoltaic plant with an installed capacity of 2 MW, for the production of electricity from renewable sources, which is not subject to concession, also in the village of Povelçë.

Since the beginning of this year, 7 applications for the construction of photovoltaic power plants have been submitted to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy. Meanwhile, referring to data from the ERE, in total, plants in the free market, those with a contract with the Free Market Supplier, and the Karavasta Power Plant produced 194,458 mWh, or 6.6% of the total electricity generated in the country during the first 4 months of the year.
