Six candidacies for AFSA board chairman - Who are the people who want to administer the Authority's activities?
For the vacant position of board member of the Financial Supervisory Authority, who will also be the chairman of the board, 6 candidates have submitted their applications. Emis Çerava, Julian Naqellari, Petrit Perhati, Artur Ribaj, Saimir Tola and Valbona Sanxhaktari are the people who have expressed interest in being part of the Authority.
With the end of Olsi Çoku's mandate and after the closing of a round with 2 candidacies, 1 of which was withdrawn and 1 was rejected by the Assembly, in mid-November, the Assembly of Albania reopened applications for this position.
Recently, the Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Finance held interviews with all candidates, who presented their experience and answered questions from the Committee members.
All nominated persons meet the criteria to be a candidate for member and chairman of the board, criteria which include being an Albanian citizen, having completed the full cycle of university studies in economics, law, or related to actuarial science, having at least 7 years of professional experience, of which at least 5 years in finance-accounting, administration of commercial companies, legal advice to commercial companies, drafting legislation, actuarial science, social security and pensions, and others.
The Chairman of the Board organizes and administers the activities of the Authority and the administration of this Authority, with the exception of activities that are within the competence of the vice-chairmen or other members of the Board, and is elected for a term of 5 years.
The Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Finance will continue to review the candidacies to select a person most suitable for the position, who will then be appointed by the Assembly.
