Dam Fund, 132.5 million lek/ Rehabilitation to prevent natural disasters, call

Around 132.5 million lek is the planned budget for 2026 for the rehabilitation of dams across the country. The fund is part of the "Civil Emergencies" program, under the Ministry of Defense, and aims to support national policies for the prevention and management of natural disasters.

The evaluation of projects to be financed is carried out by the Commission for the Prevention and Management of Natural Disasters, which includes representatives from several institutions, including the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Minister of State for Local Government.

The call for applications to the Dam Fund will open in November 2025 and will last until February 15, 2026, while priority will be given to projects that are currently in the investment process, with the possibility of reallocating funds according to the progress of the works.

The selected projects will be submitted for approval to the Council of Ministers by March 1, while final approval and determination of implementing authorities will be made by March 15, 2026.

According to data from the National Dams Committee, there are a total of 351 large dams, while the number of their users is 67, given that some of them are administered by private companies.
