Solar energy reaches 6.75% of the total - Growth, from the entry into production of new photovoltaic plants
The weight of solar energy produced in the country has undergone a significant increase during the 10 months of this year, compared to the same period last year.
According to official data from the Energy Regulatory Agency during the period January - October 2024, from all photovoltaic power plants, about 430 thousand mWh of energy or 6.75% of the amount produced by all generating sources that are in production were generated.
Compared to the 10th month of last year, the increase can be considered significant, since last year solar energy accounted for almost 1% of total energy, with about 72,500 mWh of energy produced.
The increase noted this year comes from the increase of solar plants that have entered production, where the Karavasta Power Plant holds the largest weight, which has produced 55% of the total solar energy. Also, during this year, 2 independent power plants entered production, as the amount produced by them constitutes almost 19% of the total.
The number of plants producing energy from the sun has not changed for years, despite the high interest of investors expressed in recent years.
Meanwhile, increasing the share of solar energy is important in the direction of diversification of energy production sources.
