e-Gate, also in the Port of Durrës and Saranda - Minister Koçiu: It

The modern electronic border crossing technology, e-Gate, which has significantly facilitated the movement of citizens at Rinas Airport, will soon be extended to the country's main seaports, in Durrës and Saranda.

During an inspection at Rinas International Airport, Minister of Internal Affairs Albana Koçiu and Director General of the State Police Ilir Proda emphasized the importance of this system for improving services to citizens and strengthening border security.

"We decided to come today with the Director, precisely to see up close the modern way of crossing the border, taking into account that Rinas airport has already become a destination, which very well indicates the extraordinary change and development that tourism has undergone in our country, with a very high mobility, a very large influx of citizens circulating, entering and leaving," said Minister Koçiu.

She emphasized that in the first 10 months of the year alone, over 10 million citizens have used the e-Gate electronic system, which is helping to speed up procedures and facilitate border services.

The Minister also announced that, in cooperation with the State Police, work is being done to install the e-Gate system in the Port of Durrës and the Port of Saranda, so that during the upcoming tourist season, citizens traveling by sea will benefit from the same standard of service as in Rinas.

"We will make it effective, starting in the summer months of the next season, to serve citizens who travel by sea with the same standard. A heartfelt thank you for the work, dedication and professionalism you show every day", said Minister Koçiu.

For his part, the Director General of the State Police, Ilir Proda, praised the positive impact of the e-Gate system in modernizing police work and improving the experience of citizens. He added that the e-Gate system has helped cope with a record passenger flow, which is expected to reach up to 12 million by the end of the year.

The expansion of the e-Gate system to seaports is expected to be another step towards modernizing border management, strengthening security, and providing a European service to citizens and tourists visiting Albania.
