The diaspora "leans" significantly to the left - About 53.79% of the votes for the SP. NISMA-SHB, the third most voted force by immigrants
Since the start of the counting process on the evening of May 11 and until 6:00 PM today, 58,834 envelopes out of a total of 194,889 envelopes from the diaspora have been counted. Currently, the Socialist Party is the most voted party by the Albanian diaspora.
Data from the Central Election Commission shows that the Socialist Party received 53.79% of the votes, while the Democratic Party – Alliance for a Greater Albania Coalition received only 28.95% of the votes. In other words, the Socialists lead with 31,388 votes won from the diaspora and the Democrats with only 16,894.
Meanwhile, after the major parties, the Albania Becomes Initiative Coalition is the third political force that has received the most votes from the diaspora, specifically 8.39%, followed by the Opportunity Party with 3.41% and the Together Movement Party with 2.63% of the votes. The other smaller parties that participated in the May 11 elections resulted in less than 1,000 votes won from the diaspora.
In terms of the distribution of diaspora votes by districts, the Socialist Party dominates in most of them, while the Democratic Party leads in only 2 districts, Kukës and Shkodra. In Berat and Fier there is a very deep difference in votes between the Socialist Party and the Democratic Party, so these two districts have a greater concentration of votes from the diaspora.
The process of counting diaspora votes began at an extremely slow pace on the evening of May 11 and there have been several interruptions, due to requests from the Democratic Party that votes from Greece be treated separately, or due to frequent accusations by observers that votes are being counted irregularly.
Also, the fatigue of the counters has slowed down the process, while the processing of documents, namely the process of opening some envelopes, is taking a long time.
The ballot boxes from the Korça District were opened first, while those from the Vlora District were the last to be opened.
