Albanian Stock Exchange, billings reached 301 million euros - Energy trading on ALPEX, volumes in 2024 increased by 41.7%
The volumes of energy traded on the Albanian Electricity Exchange, ALPEX, increased by 41.7% during 2024, compared to 2023. In total, a total volume of 1,173 GWh was traded in the Day-Ahead Market last year, with an average clearing price of 112.01 euro/MWh.
Billing also experienced significant increases last year. According to data from the Energy Regulatory Authority, billings increased by about 80%, reaching a value of 301 million euros. Respectively, in the bidding zone in Albania, 807 GWh of electricity was traded and the total billing was 171.4 million euros, while in the bidding zone in Kosovo, 365 GWh of electricity were traded and the total billing was 129.7 million euros.
The Albanian Electricity Exchange manages and operates the organized wholesale electricity market for the bidding zones of Albania and Kosovo. On April 11, 2023, the first auction was held in the Day-Ahead Market for the bidding zone of Albania. On January 31, 2024, the merger of the Day-Ahead Market Albania - Kosovo was marked. Meanwhile, on December 11, 2024, the first auction was held in the Intraday Auction Market for the bidding zone of Albania and Kosovo, marking the merger of this market between our two countries.
In the Intraday Auction Market, a volume of 365.53 MWh was traded during 2024, with an average clearing price of 200.8 euros/MWh.
The total number of ALPEX members has reached 36 exchange members and 4 general clearing members.
