Transparency Board lowers oil price, diesel drops to 202 lek/liter

The Transparency Board has decided this Tuesday, April 22, 2026, to reduce the ceiling prices for petroleum by-products in the country. According to the new decision, the retail price for SSH EN 590 standard diesel will be no more than 202 lek per liter, while the wholesale price is set at a maximum of 190 lek per liter.

Meanwhile, for gasoline, the maximum retail price has been set at 176 lek per liter and at 164 lek per liter in the wholesale market.

The new prices have come into effect immediately, today at 12:30, and will remain in effect until the next Board meeting, where further market changes will be reflected.

The authorities have called on all retail and wholesale operators to implement this decision, warning of strict measures in case of violations, up to and including suspension of activity.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, emphasizes that it remains committed to protecting consumers and ensuring fair competition in the market.

In an additional clarification, it is announced that current prices are below the limits set by Normative Act No. 1, dated April 3, 2026, which means that the excise tax will continue to be applied at the full level, 100%.
