Cooperation in energy and technology - What are the first trade agreements between Albania and India?
A new page in trade relations between Albania and India was created after the opening of the Indian embassy in our country. The Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Tirana held a meeting with representatives of the embassy, while the purpose of the meeting was to create bridges of cooperation between entrepreneurs of the two countries.
Albana Laknori Secretary General of the Tirana Chamber of Commerce
“Finally, the Indian embassy is based in Tirana and that is a very good thing. This means that the opportunities for face-to-face connection are much better when you have it here. And the trade cooperation figures are not good. Then we can help in the development and growth of these figures. By cooperating. Since the Chamber of Commerce holds its fairs, and India has its fairs, let's find the opportunity for Indian fairs to participate here, and Albanian companies there.”
Energy and technology are among the sectors that are of most interest in cooperation between the two countries.
"There is an agreement between the Albanian and Indian governments on energy, and on advanced technology because as we know, India is one of the main suppliers of electronic products. This makes them among the first to cooperate, and in the textile industry. What it means is, while our importers get them from third channels, from third countries like Turkey, India offers to release them, so we help businesses directly from India. By avoiding and removing some costs that businesses have. "
This meeting yielded concrete results, a first agreement was reached in the field of agricultural products, especially seeds and spices, where India is one of the leading exporters in the world.
"The first achievement was after this meeting, the first achievement that was made was a seed company, because India is very developed and in spices and seeds we will find cooperation with Albanian companies. And another thing that was achieved is an invitation to participate in Global Fintech, which takes place in Mumbai, and the request came directly to the embassy and for interested Albanian companies that will participate."
