The last plane with the diaspora's votes, today around 17:00 - The number of envelopes arriving in Albania was expected to reach 200 thousand
As of 3:30 p.m. today, the number of diaspora envelopes arriving in Albania has reached 188,375.
Since April 14, the Central Election Commission has distributed a total of 245,935 envelopes to the diaspora. Of the 245,935 envelopes distributed, 227,097 have been withdrawn by voters. Of the 227,097 envelopes withdrawn, 188,375 have been brought to Albania.
Meanwhile, at around 5:00 PM today, the last plane with the diaspora vote is expected to arrive, which according to Commissioner Celibashi, will bring the total number of diaspora votes to 200,000.
Currently, the difference between the envelopes received in Greece and the envelopes that arrived in Albania is 17,947. So almost 18 thousand envelopes that were received by Albanian emigrants in Greece have not yet been returned to Albania. Meanwhile, the difference in Italy is 18,926, so over 18 thousand envelopes withdrawn by emigrants to vote have not yet been returned to Albania. The difference in Germany is lower, around 5 thousand.
Given that the majority of voters are from Italy and Greece, and in the latter there were also problems with returning envelopes to Albania, the majority of envelopes that have not arrived in Albania are from these two countries.
Meanwhile, over 2051 envelopes considered irregular have been placed in a special box. Due to problems with DHL mail, irregular envelopes are those brought by hand by Albanian emigrants to the CEC, or when another post office has been paid to return the envelope with the ballot to Albania. These envelopes will be re-evaluated by the CEC.
