Normative Act, 2026 budget revised, 5 thousand lek bonus for pensioners,

At its last meeting, the Albanian government approved the normative act for the revision of the state budget for 2026, which provides for additional funds for pensions, defense, health, but also for supporting business and agriculture. According to Minister Malaj, this normative act will increase the amount of sovereign guarantees for businesses.

"Through this normative act, we will also increase the amount of the Sovereign Guarantee, from 3 billion lek to 5 billion lek, and not only will we increase the amount but, as I said, we will also expand the scope of coverage with sovereign guarantees, which will no longer be only for farmers, but will also be for small and medium-sized enterprises, which operate in different sectors of our economy," said Petrit Malaj, Minister of Finance.

On the other hand, the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, declared that from July 1, pensioners will be able to receive a bonus of 5 thousand lek.

"We decided today in the Council of Ministers to grant a bonus for pensioners. This will be the summer bonus, it will be a bonus worth 5,000 lek, which will be granted to 777,200 citizens. There are 656,325 old-age and social pension pensioners who will benefit from this bonus, 65,636 disability pension beneficiaries, 48,400 family pension beneficiaries, 6,840 beneficiaries of special financial treatments, including miners, employees of former military enterprises, military personnel in early retirement. As I said, the total value of this financial effect of this bonus is about 3.7 billion lek, declared Minister Ibrahimaj.

The changes to the 2026 Budget also provide additional funds for pension indexation, people with disabilities, oncology drugs, medical emergencies, firefighters, and the defense sector. According to the government, these measures aim to support the needy and priority sectors of the economy.
