43 new projects for innovation, environment and social inclusion will be supported with a funding of 41 million euros from the Interreg IPA South Adriatic program.

The winning projects, which aim for a greener, more innovative and more supportive Adriatic, were presented by the Albanian Government Agency in cooperation with the Managing Authority of the Programme. The projects were selected from 198 proposals involving 220 partners from Italy, Albania and Montenegro.

"With 54 active Albanian beneficiaries, these projects reflect our country's growing role in the region and its commitment to inclusive development, innovation and sustainability. This is not only a technical and financial breakthrough, but a strategic step forward in Albania's journey," said Eridiana Çano, Director of SASPAC.

“The selected projects are based on the fundamental principles of territorial development: innovative solutions, practical implementation and long-term sustainability. With the conclusion of this call, the Programme is already preparing proposals for its role after 2027, in line with the requirements of the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy of the European Commission”, said Claudio Polignano, Managing Authority of the Programme.

While the EU representative mentioned the essential role that these projects have on the path towards the EU.

“These initiatives are instrumental in strengthening the administrative capacities of Albania and Montenegro, as part of their EU pre-accession journey. These projects serve as a kind of pre-accession academy, enabling partners to build new managerial skills on a daily basis. In addition to building technical capacities, the projects provide a practical space to apply and improve communication strategies, underlining the importance of making real benefits visible to citizens and businesses”, said Gilles Kittel, Directorate for Regional and Urban Policy at the EC.

The aim of the program is to promote a smarter, greener, more connected and more inclusive South Adriatic region and to intensify cooperation in this area through joint actions.
