Serbia guarantees energy supply - Government considers measures to prevent market disruptions

Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut met with Minister of Mines and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic to discuss the current situation in the sector. They reviewed the measures the government is taking to mitigate the consequences of US sanctions on the Russian-owned Serbian oil company NIS.
Macut and Djedovic Handanovic stressed that "the supply of energy products on the market remains stable and that the necessary measures to maintain continuous deliveries of oil and its derivatives are analyzed daily," according to a government statement.
Macut underlined that "close coordination between all state institutions and timely response is extremely important to prevent major market disruptions."
While the Minister of Energy said that the state is working to ensure the supply of 38,000 tons of gasoline and about 66,000 tons of diesel, as well as 86,000 tons of crude oil for state reserves. Djedovic Handanovic informed the Prime Minister that the development of negotiations conducted by the Russian owners with potential partners is monitored every day, in order to create the conditions for the extension of the license for the operation of NIS and the Refinery in Pancevo as soon as possible. The latter also requires approval from the US administration.
The statement also highlighted that the minister is “assessing the market situation with oil companies and informing the government, the president and the Serbian public every day.”
