291.6 million euros in remittances in three months - Emigrant remittances to Kosovo increase
Remittances from migrants to Kosovo during the first three months of this year reached 291.65 million euros. According to official data from the Central Bank of Kosovo, the majority of remittances, or 66.08% of them, came through non-bank financial institutions, from commercial banks (13.04%), as well as other channels (20.87%).
Emigrant remittances to Kosovo come mainly from Germany, with 39.6% of the total, Switzerland with 17.1% and the USA with 8.1% of the total.
Meanwhile, referring to the Balance of Payments statistics for the first two months of the year, it is noted that the trade balance of goods by the end of February recorded a deficit of 791.50 million euros, an increase of 21.48% compared to the same period a year earlier. Exports of goods reached the value of 129.88 million euros, marking a decrease of 1.01%, while imports reached 921.38 million euros, representing an increase of 17.71% compared to the first two months of 2024.
As for direct investments in Kosovo, during the first two months of the year they reached 161.57 million euros, almost the same value compared to last year. The real estate sector recorded a record of 113.4 million euros, followed by financial and insurance activities with 19.8 million euros and wholesale and retail trade with 9.2 million euros.
On the other hand, direct investments outside Kosovo amounted to 34.97 million euros, an increase of 28.64% compared to the previous year.
