Employees, in search of financial well-being - USA, the number of people seeking

While nearly 7 in 10 employees (68%) remain optimistic about their financial future over the next three years, many are seeking advice on long-term savings and managing personal finances. This, coupled with higher living costs and continued inflation, is leading more employees to seek help to prioritize all of their financial needs at once.

Today, twice as many American workers are looking to their employers for guidance and resources related to short-term financial needs than two years ago. According to Bank of America’s 2025 Workplace Benefits Report, 26% of the workforce is seeking help in areas such as emergency savings, debt relief and financial well-being, up from 13% in 2023.

“The modern employee wants help with their broader financial goals. Employers should consider additional resources to support their workforce in ways that strengthen long-term goals while also helping with short-term challenges,” the report says.

Other areas where employees say they need financial wellness resources include retirement education and planning (36%), how to generate income in retirement (33%), and developing financial skills and habits (33%).

Based on national surveys of nearly 1,000 employees and 800 employers, the report explores employees' financial well-being and retirement preparation, as well as the state of workplace benefits.

The data shows that financial wellness benefits continue to be important, with more than 8 in 10 employers saying that financial wellness resources help increase job satisfaction, productivity, and the ability to attract new talent. However, about half of larger employers (54%) offer financial wellness programs, compared to just a third (32%) of smaller companies.

The survey also found that workplace benefits are increasingly becoming a factor in talent retention. 24% of employees say they have recently left or are considering leaving their company due to a lack of workplace benefits, up from 15% in 2023.
