The action to "liberate" public spaces continues - Over 36 thousand

The campaign to free public spaces from tables and chairs that have occupied the sidewalks continues with intensity throughout the country. IKMT also continues the campaign against entities that carry out tire repair activities, which create hazardous waste from used tires, pollute the environment and occupy public spaces.

During inspections conducted in recent days, the entities were notified of the irregularities, and as a sign of cooperation, they were voluntarily closed by the citizens themselves.

Meanwhile, IMT Tirana has also published a map with the areas already released for community use, showing over 36 thousand m² of freed public space in the capital. The Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, who closely followed the action to release public spaces and return them to citizens from Lushnja, stressed that the chaos and illegal occupation will be put to an end.

"No one can occupy public spaces for personal interests, nor hinder the movement and normal functioning of urban life in Lushnja. It is important to build a climate where the spirit of the law prevails and where common spaces are respected," said Minister Malaj.

The mayor, Eriselda Sefa, informed that a plan of measures has already been drafted, and all constructions throughout the territory have been identified.

"Notices have been sent according to legal procedures. We invite citizens to carry out the dismantling themselves, while those with permits have been abolished by official decisions. Some citizens thought that this would only be a transitional period, but a full action has now been taken throughout the territory, where no attempt at occupation will be allowed, " said Sefa.

The release of public spaces is seen as part of the government's vision of "Urban Renaissance 2.0". In this context, Prime Minister Rama has announced the drafting of a new National Regulation, which will determine by law the spaces that businesses can use. The release of public spaces began in early July.

Meanwhile, since August 1, IKMT and the State Police have undertaken concrete actions to free up spaces even on the borders of national axes, respecting the rules and laws in force for the protection of the territory.
