Gyms in Albania, more expensive than in Paris! Numbeo: Tirana ranks 43rd and first among countries in the region
A recent report, published by Numbeo, shows the monthly prices of gyms in several major European cities. According to these statistics, Tirana ranks 43rd out of 144 cities in total, with an average price of $47.6 for a monthly subscription.
The data shows that Switzerland is the country with the highest prices for fitness, as the first four places in the ranking are occupied by cities from this country, led by Zurich, where a monthly gym membership costs $82.19.
But what percentage of the salary goes to the monthly gym membership? During the third quarter of 2024, the average net salary for an Albanian was 62,773 lek, while the average monthly price of a gym membership is 4,350 lek. This means that 7% of an Albanian's salary goes only to the monthly gym membership, not including other expenses such as clothing or accessories needed for the gym.
As for Albania, it turns out to be the country with the highest price for gyms in the region. Kosovo ranks 141st, with a monthly subscription of $23.4.
Meanwhile, Serbia is represented by three cities on the list and again offers lower prices than Albania. In Belgrade, the monthly fee for a gym is $36.79, ranking 103rd.
On the other hand, Montenegro ranks 60th, where a monthly subscription costs $42.85. While Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina is in 114th place, where a month of gym membership costs $33.6.
What stands out from these statistics is that the price of a gym in Albania is much higher than in some large and developed cities such as: Paris ($36.8), Madrid ($44.8), Manchester ($41.6), Brussels ($37.7) and Hamburg ($47.2).
