Prices of agricultural products in the country increased by an average of 1% during 2025, compared to the previous year. According to INSTAT data, the increase was mainly influenced by the increase in the price of some livestock products and fruit and vegetable crops, while some agricultural products recorded price decreases.
Crop production recorded an average increase of 1.4%, while livestock production increased by 0.5%. Within the crop sector, the highest increase was recorded by fruit and vegetable production, by 4.7%, supported by the increase in the price of citrus fruits by 6.4%, olives by 6.3%, fruits by 5.3% and grapes by 3.1%. At the same time, the price of wine increased by 5.8%, while that of olive oil by 4.1%.
In the livestock sector, the strongest growth was recorded by eggs, the price of which increased by 8.5% compared to 2024. The group of other livestock products also became more expensive by 5.2%, while honey increased by 2.2%. There was also an increase in the price of beef by 2.3% and of small animals by 2%.
On the other hand, some products were sold cheaper than a year ago. The biggest drop was recorded by potatoes, by 5.6%, followed by poultry by 3.7%, while the price of other milk products fell by 2.7%. The price of milk as a whole also decreased by 1%, as well as that of fodder plants by 1.2%.
The data show that, although the average increase in agricultural prices remained limited during 2025, developments differ significantly across products. The price increase has been mainly concentrated in eggs and fruit and vegetable products, while a number of basic products, such as potatoes, poultry and milk, have followed a downward trend.
