Loans for housing purchases, with an increase in November/ But the private sector is the main "driver" of the decline in lending
The new credit given by the banking sector during November of this year is fixed at 24.4 billion ALL, according to the latest data from the "Bank of Albania". Compared to the same period a year ago, when new loans were fixed at 27.1 billion ALL, the drop is significant, close to 10%. On the other hand, compared to the months of September of previous years, the figures signal that this year this value is far from the previous records that coincide with last year and 2021.
During the month of November, the new credit for the private sector is fixed at 15.2 billion ALL, from 19.3 billion ALL during November of last year. The decrease is fixed at 21%, thus reflecting the main weight for the decrease in lending. It is worth noting that compared to the same month of previous years, November of this year is significantly lower than the year 2023, the year 2016 and the year 2021, which are the three highest values since the data started for this indicator on the "Bank of Albania" page.
As for individuals, meanwhile, the new loan in November of this year is worth 8.6 billion ALL, from 7.8 billion ALL this figure was in the same period a year ago. The increase for this indicator is fixed at around 10%. For this indicator, the current year records a record since 2016.
Meanwhile, if we refer to the new loan for individuals for the purchase of housing, during November 2024 an increase is observed, compared to the same period last year. The value is fixed at 4.5 billion ALL and has recorded an increase of 2.6%.
On the other hand, regarding the 11 months of this year, we noticed a historical record. During this period, the new loan reached about ALL 332 billion, or an increase of almost 4%, compared to the same period last year.
In all recent publications, the Bank of Albania has emphasized the high growth of loans, especially for housing purchases.
