"Reduce the time without electricity" - ERE launches review of quality

The Energy Regulatory Authority has initiated procedures to amend the regulation that sets standards for the quality of supply and security in the electricity transmission network. The decision comes following a request from the Assembly and monitoring of the Transmission System Operator's performance over the past few years.

In the new draft proposal, some of the main indicators undergo significant changes. The average outage time is expected to decrease from 35 minutes to 25.96 minutes, the unsupplied energy from 467 MWh to 365.99 MWh, while the SAIDI indicator, which measures the average duration of outages per customer, is expected to decrease from 100 minutes to 39.48 minutes. Meanwhile, according to the proposal, every three years the ERE will conduct a complete review of the standards, depending on the network performance and legal requirements.

The new regulation also provides for the harmonization of voltage levels with the Transmission Code adopted in 2022, aligning them with European standards.

ERE announces that monitoring conducted during 2024 and the first nine months of 2025 shows a continuous decrease in supply interruptions. During the second quarter of this year, the SAIDI indicator fell to 6.78 minutes, from 18.19 minutes in the same period a year ago.
