Problems across the country due to rainfall - Relevant structures on the ground

Heavy rainfall has covered the entire territory of the country since the early hours of today. As a result, several problems have been identified. From the first moments, all structures under the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy have been and continue to be on the ground intervening to normalize the situation.

In the northern area, rainfall has been of high intensity, bringing rocks and debris to the road and large water flows.

There has been snowfall on the Bogë-Theth axis, while in Dushaj-Lekbibaj at km 4, a landslide has occurred, making traffic difficult. Work is underway to remove the material from the passing part of the road. On the Vorë-Maminas axis at km 2, there is water on the road. Contractors with vehicles and workers have been on the ground without interruption to clean the axes.

Regarding electricity supply, there are currently 22 feeders out of service nationwide, with the most affected region being Durrës, affected by bad weather and the presence of water in the cabins.

All lines supplying the hydropower plants are in operation, except for the segment in Synej, Kavaja, which is currently under construction. The 35kV lines and substations are supplying electricity normally. In the transmission network, all 400 kV, 220 kV and 110 kV lines are in normal operation, while the line and substation brigades are on standby.

At the Rrashbull 220/110 kV Substation, there is increased water presence in the substation square and OST teams, in cooperation with Civil Emergencies, are taking the necessary measures to evacuate the water.

As a result of the heavy rainfall, the flows at the Koman HPP and the Vau i Dejës HPP continue to remain high, without showing any tendency to decrease. Currently, these production units are operating at full capacity, with a total of 9 aggregates in operation. The incoming water is processed for the operation of the production units, is reserved in lakes within the allowed quotas and the rest is discharged in a mandatory manner, in order to guarantee the safety of the production works.

Regarding water supply, the situation is problematic in the Durrës region, as a result of the high intensity rainfall that continues without interruption. All pumping stations are in full operation and the level of the hydrovor channel is at maximum.

The situation is assessed as serious, with a risk of worsening due to continued intense rainfall, while the relevant structures are on the ground and are continuously monitoring the situation.

In ports and airports, the situation appears normal in the ports of Durrës and Saranda, while in Vlora there were no ferries departing or other ships anchored.

At "Mother Teresa" Airport, operations continue normally, although the meteorological situation in the surrounding area is challenging.
