The subsidy scheme in agriculture is changing - Deputy Minister Guri: We have

The 2026 agricultural support scheme will undergo changes. The budget allocated this year is 5.2 billion lek, significantly higher than the initial funds for 2025, and work has already begun on drafting new measures, which are expected to be approved next month.

To this end, consultations are also being held with farmers across the country with the aim of making changes that target more efficient support for increasing production in the country.

Fatmir Guri, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development:  "The fund for this year is 5.2 billion lek and will support investments in agriculture. We are in an important process within the Ministry of Agriculture and we will be in meetings with farmers across the country to respond to their requests."

But could support for production units, as is the case in countries in the region, be an option? This has also been a constant request from farmers' associations in the country.

"These elements will have a decision-making process once we have listened to the actors on the ground and their expectations and discussed them extensively."

The initial fund for the National Agricultural Support Scheme 2025 was 3.2 billion lek and farmers were supported with cash payments for oil and payments for 7 other schemes according to established criteria for benefit.
