Construction of the Vorë-Hani i Hoti railway - The tender is opened, the value of the investment is estimated at 368 million euros
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has opened the tender for the construction of the Vorë - Hani i Hoti railway. Interested companies will be able to submit bids until January 24, 2025. This will be a pre-qualification stage, which means that companies that pass the first stage will be invited to a second stage, until the company is selected. that will implement the works.
With the conclusion of the tendering procedures and the conclusion of the contract, the way is opened for the implementation of works for one of the most important railway projects in the country.
As previously announced, the main works will include the modernization of about 120 km of permanent roads between Vora and Hani i Hoti to reach a maximum operating speed of 100–120 km/h.
They will include widening up to 6.6 m and strengthening the formation, replacing or rehabilitating about 12 main bridges, plus other minor bridges and canals, as well as widening and modernizing the Lezha tunnel. Also, the replacement of the superstructure will be carried out, as well as the construction, replacement or rehabilitation of about 13 stations.
The total cost for the rehabilitation of the railway line Vorë - Hani i Hoti is 368 million euros and is co-financed with loans from the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, a grant from the European Union and the Albanian government that will cover the cost of each land displacement, resettlement, and taxes needed to finalize the project.
