Modernization of the air fleet - Minister of Defense, Pirro Vëngu, presents

The Minister of Defense, Pirro Vëngu, has presented the three priorities for the modernization of the Albanian air fleet. In a post on social networks, the minister emphasizes that during a meeting at the Farka air base, work continued on the Strategic Defense Reassessment, with a focus on investments in modernization, airworthiness according to NATO standards and achieving the objectives set at the Hague Summit.

According to the Minister of Defense, there are three priorities in this regard. First, the modernization of the fleet, equipment, technology and armament, from meteorology to air defense systems. Development of infrastructure at the air bases in Gjadra, Rinas, Farka, Kucova and Vlora, to increase the security and effectiveness of the Air Force in military and civil defense missions.

Also, another direction is the development and specialization of human resources with the reopening of the Aviation School in Vlora, as well as the training of the new generation of pilots, on-board technicians, controllers and unmanned systems experts.

All of this is supported by new infrastructure, increased financial treatment, and the promotion of military careers for young Albanians.

According to Minister Vëngu, work is continuing with all commands, operational structures and international partners to build a modern, efficient and prepared Air Force for the challenges of the future.

Based on the state budget, the Ministry of Defense has 52.7 billion lek at its disposal this year, or 4.4 billion lek more than last year. This increase in the fund is also reflected in the weight of the budget dedicated to this ministry compared to GDP. This year, the fund constitutes 2.01% of GDP.
