Croatia blocks other Albanian tangerines - Ministry of Agriculture: We have taken measures for the first cases
The RASFF alert system in the EU has again issued a notice on December 20 about other shipments with high pesticides in tangerines from Albania which have been blocked by the Croatian state.
But while a new problem has appeared, the Ministry of Agriculture has reacted on the first three shipments which were blocked by the Croatian state, where it has informed that AKU has taken immediate measures for traceability, as well as concrete measures and actions to disposed of 20,482 kg of clementine mandarins, on 19.12.2024, in Fier County, cargo which was returned by the state of Croatia. The disposal procedure was carried out together with the presence of the National Environment Authority, the Tax Directorate, as well as with the presence of several different media.
On the other hand, the Ministry informs that in cooperation with the National Veterinary and Plant Protection Authority, on 19.12.2024, joint inspections and evidence were carried out in the Mursi Village of Konispoli Municipality, where one of the farmers practices cultivation. which had disposed of the tangerine product. For the collecting subjects that resulted in violation of the legal provisions, in addition to criminal charges, according to the violations, administrative fines and blocking of activity were also taken. To follow up on the following situation, joint inspections were carried out every day in Berat district, Dimal Municipality.
The Ministry of Agriculture encourages the consumption of Albanian products for the end of the year holidays and beyond. Referring to this institution, for the year 2024 over 85% of the production of Albanian tangerines has been harvested and sold in the domestic and international market and in no case from all the checks and analyzes carried out have there been any pesticide residues. Today, mandarin cultivation is spread over 1,000 ha by market farmers and smaller producers.
For the year 2024, 924 trucks have been exported from the cultivation and harvesting of Albanian mandarin to the European and worldwide market.
