"Solar energy accounts for 10% of production" - Deputy Prime Minister

The volume of photovoltaic energy production in the country has reached about 10%, declared Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku as she participated in the inauguration ceremony of the photovoltaic park in Karavasta.

"Photovoltaic energy has managed to account for 10% of the installed energy production volumes in our country. This is a very important volume, if you consider that Albania is proud of its renewable production."

According to Balluk, this park holds a number of values and a record price has been reached.

"This park carries a number of values, it is also the largest photovoltaic park in the Balkans. We have achieved a record price. Voltalia for us is an example that we mention at every table with foreign investors. Voltalia is building a new park in Spitalë. I want to highlight another very important fact, of the relations between Albania and France. It is worth noting the fact of the excellent relationship between President Macron and Prime Minister Rama and his visit to Albania with a group of investors has created a good example for our country in the EU. Albania and Albanians aspire to be part of the EU before it reaches us by 2030, because we were born in the heart of Europe and we are one of the most ancient peoples and no one can change this for us."

According to data from ERE, last year the Karavasta photovoltaic power plant began production, generating a total of 258,383 mWh, or more than half of all solar production in the country.

The Karavasta photovoltaic park, an investment by the French company Voltalia, is the largest solar park in the Western Balkans, with a capacity of 140 megawatts, spread over an area of 198 hectares.
