Diaspora as a supporting partner for EU integration - Dhuka: You are the experts on European standards, we need you

In the panel focusing on the Albanian diaspora as a supporting partner for European integration and sustainable development, Chief Negotiator Majlinda Dhuka emphasized that work is currently being done to grant Albanians the rights of European citizens.
"We are working to give Albanians the rights of European citizens, some of you enjoy them, you work and live in EU countries, some of you do business, some of you work in public institutions, some of you study or are researchers, lecturers, scientific associates in universities. You are the best connoisseurs of European standards, that is why we need you very much. First of all, we need the experience, the business models you have, we need your knowledge of technology, innovation, we need innovation. You are Albania's most precious capital in the European space, your remittances to the family, have been a source, food for the Albanian economy for years, they can serve as a good investment opportunity."
In her speech, the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Albania, Natasha Ahmeti, focused on the remittances of Albanian emigrants and their impact on the Albanian economy.
"Remittances are much more important than in any other country. Remittances have contributed over 5.8%. SEPA membership is financial integration, before Albania is integrated."
The purpose of this panel was to provide clear strategic direction, promoting a more coordinated inter-institutional approach and orienting the diaspora towards sustainable mechanisms.
