Elbasan - Lekaj highway, the winners for the construction are announced - Bids for 3 lots reach 6 billion ALL, 1.5 billion ALL less than the limit fund
As the road axis from Elbasan to Lekaj will turn into a highway, the Albanian Road Authority has announced the companies that will carry out the works in 3 lots of this segment.
Tenders were opened a few months ago for 6 road lots, while 3 of them seem to be still in process.
Referring to the winning bids, in total the three lots will cost about 6 billion ALL, without VAT or 1.5 billion ALL less than the limit fund made available.
This road is part of corridor 8 and according to the tender documents, the project starts near the former Metallurgical Plant in Elbasan, where the connection will be made with the bypass of Elbasan, which is being designed, up to Lekaj, where it joins the existing highway of the corridor blue.
The length of the road is 40.7km and passes through the regions of Elbasan (Bradashesh, Shirgjan, Gjegjan, Cërrik, Papër), Peqin (Pajovë, Shez, Gjocaj, Peqin, Karine) and Kavajë (Sinaballaj, Rrogozhinë).
Based on the road category, the speed allowed after the completion of the works will be in the range of 90 km/h to 140 km/h.
Corridor 8 is considered the core infrastructure project in our country, as in total for the realization of this road work there are about 350 million euros of public funds for 14 segments.
The progress for the completion of each of them is different, as the most advanced are the segments from Elbasan to Qafë Thane.
