Austria leads foreign investments in Albania - With 60 million euros in early

Austria, Italy, the Netherlands and Turkey are the countries that brought the most investments to Albania during the first quarter of 2026. The latest data from the Bank of Albania shows that Austria holds the first place with 60 million euros of new investment flows, thus becoming the main investor in Albania.

Meanwhile, Italy ranks second, having maintained a stable level of investment in the country. In the first quarter of 2026 alone, Italian investments reached 49 million euros, positioning Italy among Albania's most important economic partners.

The Netherlands ranks third with 48 million euros of investments. For many years, the Dutch state has been among the largest investors in Albania, holding a significant share in foreign direct investment flows.

The sister state, Kosovo, with 32 million euros of investments in the first quarter of 2026, continues to remain among the most important investors in the country. This shows that Kosovo is not only a key trading partner, in addition to the many other ties and cooperations that exist between the two states, but also a state that invests significant amounts of money in various sectors of the country, especially in real estate.

The rest of the Balkan region, Greece, Bulgaria, Croatia, North Macedonia and Serbia are also present in Albania with investments, but to a very small extent.

Meanwhile, Turkey, which has often held the "throne" of foreign direct investment in the country, ranks fourth with 47 million euros of investment. Thus, Austria, Italy, the Netherlands and Turkey account for about half of the total flow of foreign direct investment that entered Albania during the first quarter of 2026.

What stands out from the official statistics is the presence of investments from several countries that are located far from Albania, such as the Cayman Islands, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Lebanon.
