Kamëz Waterworks and Sewerage has announced the opening of the competition for the design of a new water transmission line from Bovilla to the Bathore area, as well as the construction of an infiltration cleaning station and a new water storage tank. According to the document in the Public Procurement Agency, the limit fund is 53 million and 414 thousand lekë.

The project envisages the supply of water to the Bathore area, part of Kamza, Paskuqan and Babrroi, a territory that extends over approximately 22 km². Through the new purification system, infiltration and the new transmission line, it is intended that these areas will ensure an uninterrupted supply of drinking water, 24 hours a day.

A new water storage facility will also be built to increase storage capacity and meet growing demand, and a lighting and camera monitoring system will be built at the Bovilla station. According to the document, the new project will be designed for a 25-year perspective, aiming to improve water quality and quantity, as well as reduce losses in the network.

Currently, the existing network, depreciated for about 50 years, shows significant losses: about 40% from leaks and 25% from illegal connections, while uncontrolled interventions in the pipes occasionally cause turbidity and deterioration of water quality. These problems, combined with low pressure and limited supply schedules, have pushed many families to open individual wells, an unsafe practice both in terms of technical aspects and bacteriological quality of the water.

According to the document, the current storage facilities do not meet the population's needs for 24-hour supply, resulting in water currently being provided for only 4-8 hours a day. Analyses conducted by UKK show that the water needs additional treatment to reach the permitted standards.

With the construction of the new line, it is expected that the residents of Kamza, Bathore, Paskuqan and Babrroi will receive a quality, 24-hour supply of drinking water.
