400 million euros of foreign investments at the beginning of the year/ Flows

Foreign direct investment in Albania continued to grow in the first quarter of 2026, marking the highest level ever recorded for this period of the year. According to data from the "Bank of Albania", the investment flow reached 403.9 million euros, an increase of 11.8% compared to the same period in 2025.

This year's performance confirms the positive trend of foreign investments in the Albanian economy, which have been steadily increasing in recent years. Compared to the first quarter of 2019, investment flows have increased by over 35%, while the current level is almost triple that recorded a decade ago.

Reinvested profits from foreign companies operating in Albania continue to play an important role in this performance. In the first quarter of 2026, they reached 206.2 million euros, accounting for more than half of the total foreign direct investment flow. This shows that a significant portion of profits generated in the country are being reinvested in the economy, rather than being transferred abroad.

At the same time, new capital investments also recorded a significant increase. New capital injections reached 183.3 million euros, about 25% more compared to the previous year, making a significant contribution to the expansion of foreign investments.

Foreign direct investment remains one of the main sources of financing for the Albanian economy and an important factor in the inflow of foreign exchange into the country. Together with tourism and remittances, they have contributed to improving the balance of payments and strengthening the supply of the euro in the domestic market in recent years.
