"Albania is not at risk from oil shortage" - Karakaçi: We aim

Albania is not at risk from a lack of hydrocarbon supply. This was guaranteed by the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, during an interpellation in the Parliament. Karakaçi said that the new draft released for public consultation aims for the management of the security reserve to be done by the state and not by traders.

"For the Albanian government, energy security is very important, because it is part of national security, therefore the measures taken to deal with the crisis are multifaceted. Of course, a transparency board has been established, which protects the final consumer."

Based on the legislation in force, a working group has been established that will conduct on-site verifications for maintaining safety reserves in all hydrocarbon trading companies.

As for the long-term plan, yes, the law on securing hydrocarbon reserves has already been published on the public consultation portal.

This is a draft that sets a new standard for Albania. The hydrocarbon reserve is no longer made by commercial companies, but by state agencies.

"The safety reserve is implementable when there is a shortage of product in the market, but currently the government guarantees that there is no shortage in supply. Albania is not exposed to this risk ," Karakaçi said.

Among other things, Karakaçi announced that next week the plan of measures for urban and interurban public transport will come into force, after consultations with interest groups.
