Rama puts Albania and Britain on the scale - "There are higher salaries, but you have to do two jobs. There is no sense of community"
In the 'Flasim' podcast where a British citizen was invited, Prime Minister Edi Rama made the difference between living in Albania and Great Britain, stressing that apart from living in Agli you have to do two jobs, it is also difficult to find the feeling of the community.
The Prime Minister emphasized that salaries compared to Albania have a big difference, but taxes and bills make it unaffordable, just like any other country in Europe.
"I don't know much about Britain, but I have the feeling that even there it is not easy to find that sense of community that once existed, it has become much more distant.
I was in London to meet with Albanians and the story I heard is common, very common, and I'm talking about people who are stable, work hard, who started from trying to do everything and already have families, children. It was the same thing: You have to do two jobs, otherwise you can't make it.
Of course in some respects it is good for children. Free time to spend with family is zero.
I've had people here who came from immigration and they say the same thing. When people see the salaries from here and make the comparison, of course it's a big difference.
But what's behind that salary, when it comes to rent, taxes, bills to pay, it's unaffordable in Britain, or anywhere else in Europe.
So it has to be put on the scale, but still I understand people who want to challenge themselves, trying where they think the possibilities are greatest. This is normal", said Rama.
Karl Roberts, former manager of TAP in Albania, has now chosen to live in Tirana where he also bought an apartment. In his conversation with the Prime Minister, Roberts emphasized, among other things, the safety he feels in Albania walking on the streets, which he does not feel in any other European metropolis, which the Prime Minister also confirms.
