A tractor works the lands of 550 farmers! - About 3500 agricultural machines are active in the territory of the country
To work their lands, so that they can plant cereals or cultivate fruits and vegetables, instead of filling the needs of 550 farmers, an agricultural tractor serves on average.
This is a clear indication of the fact that, although agriculture is a key sector for the country's economy, opportunities for using modern technology are still limited for many farmers.
Data on the population living in rural areas, crossed with the number of active tractors, from the General Directorate of Services and Road Transport, show that one tractor is on standby for about 550 farmers.
According to DPSHTRR, until now there are about 2000 tractors in the entire territory of Albania, while also mentioning 1470 other agricultural tools that serve mainly for the part of grain harvesting.
What is observed from the data is that the import of agricultural tractors has increased progressively over the last few years, with a single exception, the current year.
If we take January-October as the time period, it is observed that from 209 agricultural tractors imported in 2021, the number has reached about 519 during the first 10 months of 2024.
This increase indicates an increased interest in modernizing agriculture and an effort to meet ongoing production challenges in the fields of cereals and other crops.
