Minister Karakaçi inspects works on the Tirana-Durrës highway: We aim to complete it before the deadline

The third phase of works to expand the road axis on the Tirana-Durres highway is continuing. After the opening of the first six kilometers, works are now focused on the segment from the Rinas overpass towards Limuthi.
Work is underway intensively to fill the roadbed, while work on the retaining walls has been completed.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, together with the director of the Albanian Road Authority, Ami Kozeli, closely inspected the works, approximately 30% of which have been completed so far.
"This contract phase includes the expansion of the road body to three lanes plus an emergency. Meanwhile, it also includes the Laknas overpass or the Laknas junction and the construction of the new Kashari overpass, which will be a 94 m long metal structure," said Kozeli.
The opening of the first six kilometers has significantly eased vehicle movement, while the third phase is continuing, with the objective of completing it as soon as possible to give some breathing space to movement on this road segment.
"After two phases that have been successfully completed and which is evident since traffic has been unblocked with three lanes up to the Rinas overpass, we are now in the works to complete the expansion up to the Limuthi direction," announced Minister Karakaçi.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy requested that the project also address the concerns of the community and businesses operating in the area regarding access to the road axis. Regarding pedestrian overpasses along the first six kilometers of the highway, the minister said that the concern raised by residents a few weeks ago has already been resolved.
"The construction site is mobilized. Let's pay attention to the completion, where possible, of those problems that residents have raised, at the Rinas junction, and continue with priority regarding the overpasses that also connect residents and which have been an added concern," said Karakaçi.
