Lamallari: A new unit for Environmental Crimes will be established in the State Police

The State Police will have a new unit with a special focus on environmental crimes. This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Besfort Lamallari, in a meeting with the local leaders of the State Police in 12 regions. Together with the Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, the Minister of Internal Affairs has requested a more proactive approach to fires, unlike the past.
"For the Police, the fire does not end when it is extinguished. That is where the question of why it happened, who caused it and whether a criminal offense is hidden behind it begins. Our task is to investigate every suspicious fire professionally, in close cooperation with the fire service, Civil Emergencies, cooperation with the community, the use of the best forensic technology and expertise at home and abroad, as well as the Prosecution Office, in order to pursue every piece of evidence and suspected perpetrator to the end. The fires this year alone, their damage is incalculable, as in the forest fund. How many years, how many generations does it take for that forest fund to recover," declared Minister Lamallari.
Meanwhile, the Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, asked local leaders for more commitment to public safety, road safety and maritime safety.
"Give importance to the three components of security: Public Safety, Road Safety and Maritime Safety. React in time, both in prevention and in the dynamic and professional follow-up of conflicts and concerns of citizens.
Each component of security requires commitment and accountability, and the results depend on the way each of us fulfills the task.
When we talk about performance, we are not only talking about the results we achieve in the field. Performance is also the way we behave with citizens, the way we communicate with them and the way we communicate with the media. Citizens should have the Police at their side, receive timely responses and see professionalism in every situation. I thank you for your work and commitment and I expect to see these messages reflected in your daily work", declared Hita.
