Artificial intelligence is also introduced into businesses - Beshello: They are still few, but growing. They benefit from EU funds for digitalization
The Albanian government will invest millions of euros to integrate artificial intelligence into agriculture, transportation, health, education, energy, and more. What about businesses themselves, how much are they investing in artificial intelligence?
According to IT specialist Erald Beshello, businesses are still in the first phase of implementing artificial intelligence, while the European Union remains the main address where they attract funds for their digitalization.
"The private sector figures are still modest, but they are increasing year after year. They are mostly based on European funds for digitalization, where around 3.3 million euros have recently been allocated to Albania. We can say that there are, although they can be counted on the fingers of one hand, some start-ups that are attracting figures starting from 100 thousand euros to millions of euros, but as is known, they are few. Currently, there are also Albanian companies that are integrating artificial intelligence in fields and sectors such as health, agriculture, security or the energy sector," said Beshello.
Marketing, product storage, or communicating with customers online are some of the ways in which artificial intelligence is being used by businesses. Beshello stated that our state will increase investments and support for innovative entrepreneurship over the next 5 years.
"Our state has become a shareholder with about 10 million euros in Mira Murati's start-up, Machine Thinking Lab, a start-up that is expected to soon reach figures of 10 or 12 billion dollars. Also, 15 million euros are planned to be invested in supporting innovative entrepreneurship by our state in the next 5 years. In general, we can say that artificial intelligence will make people's lives faster, simpler and more qualitative, by offering faster and more accessible services for everyone," he emphasized.
According to a report by the Regional Cooperation Council, only 12% of Albanian businesses were using artificial intelligence to develop their work processes in 2023.
